Photographing a North Carolina beach elopement as part of a styled shoot with the Sassyfras Studios Folk Retreat was so much more than just the photography. I am constantly studying and learning all I can about photography and each year I try to attend an in person workshop to learn hands on from those who I admire. I had taken an online class with them in the past, Wedding Stories, through the Define School and was thrilled that they were offering a retreat this past October. This year’s workshop was the Folk Retreat in Castle Haynes, NC. It was at the most unique place I have every stayed, Walker World.
Sassyfras is two sisters that are amazing photographers but even more than that they have a gift for just loving on people and making them feel like family, whether it be their clients or the group of ladies that gathered for their retreat. We discussed all things business along with how to improve our photography and take care of our clients One of my favorite things we discussed was using light and motion and the little details.
