Weddings come in all shapes and sizes, and all sorts of styles, too! I am so lucky that I get to see a variety of weddings with what I do – each one is so unique. Today I’m going to shed some light on what is often referred to as a “microwedding”. This is a smaller-scale celebration that typically has a guest count of 20 or less. Unlike a traditional wedding, the timeline is also a lot more simplistic and the duration of the event isn’t usually as long. This is the route Betsy and Ryley decided to go for their intimate mountain wedding. Their celebration was held at the Greystone Inn at Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.
This wedding was held last August at a small lake called Lake Toxaway, which is just south of Asheville near Brevard. Altogether there were only 11 guests, definitely the definition of a microwedding! Their ceremony was on a deck surrounded by a canopy of trees overlooking the lake. The weather was perfect; summer in the mountains by a lake is perfection. After the ceremony, they took a ride around the lake with all of their guests. The benefit of having a handful of guests is you can all fit on a small charter boat! Following the sunset cruise on the lake, they gathered for dinner on the dock. The blue and green details used in the flowers and linens matched perfectly with the scenery. As a special detail, they incorporated bees and honey, which was adorable.
This isn’t the first intimate mountain wedding I’ve shot at this lovely venue. If you’d like to see another microwedding, click here!
Truly, these small and sentimental celebrations are some of my favorites!
