Sunflower Engagement Pictures | Biltmore Estate in the Summer

POSTED ON

September 13, 2017

Kate and John were such a joy to work with!  We met at the beautiful Biltmore Estate here in Ashville. It provided a stunning backdrop for this couple’s engagement session.  I don’t think we have ever laughed so much during an engagement session just because of the sheer pleasant company of these two!

Celebrating Kate and John’s Love

Recently I have been collaborating with Jennifer Allen of Green Mountain Photo and Films. We provide some documentary-style footage of the couple as well as gorgeous portraits.  One of my favorite things was looking back on videos from when I was growing up. Or finding the 8mm films in my parents attic and seeing them when they were children.  I love to imagine these couples showing their own children what mom and dad looked like and acted with each other before their wedding!  Plus, these joint sessions gives the couple a chance to know all of us as vendors prior to their big day. Which as most of you know is stressful enough, let alone meeting new service providers!

I loved how friendly and down-to-earth Kate and John were.  They explained they had met at Western Carolina University and had always been friendly. They didn’t start dating until about three years into their friendship. Obviously, it blossomed from there!

These photos are so natural and have such a simple, unassuming beauty about them, making them a true representation of their relationship – comfortable in nature, appreciating the little things, and enjoying the quietness of each other’s company.  Kate and John are so comfortable with one another, and can make each other laugh with no problem.  The way they look at one another truly reflects the love and respect they have for one another’s best qualities.

Jennifer and I so look forward to seeing them again for their April 2018 wedding at Chestnut Ridge!  If you are interested in a photography and videography package for your upcoming wedding, be sure to contact us!  We have a few remaining dates for 2018 and your engagement session is complimentary.

Meet Kathy

A woman in glasses holding a coffee mug.

I’m Kathy – wedding photographer, mom of 1 daughter & 2 doodles, and avid sunset watcher. Once you’ve gotten to know a little more about me, it’ll be my turn to get to know you as too!! When I work with a couple, we usually end up feeling more like old friends by the time your wedding day arrives – which means a more relaxed, enjoyable wedding day experience for everyone. And when it comes to photo style, you’ll find your photos are vibrant and classic, in true-to-life color and timeless black and white. It’s my honor to serve joyful, authentic couples who want their wedding photos to be as timeless as their vows.
