Charleston is one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. Its historic charm is well-known. The colorful homes with bustling, well-kept landscaping makes for some of the most photogenic locations in all of South Carolina. It made perfect sense to capture Caroline and Ronnie’s summer engagement session in Charleston. They booked a destination wedding in Mount Pleasant just outside of Charleston. I met up with them downtown the day before their wedding, just after sunrise to take their engagement photos.

Early morning is the best time to capture a session in Charleston during the summertime. People aren’t yet out and about in the early morning hours so it’s not very crowded. This allows clients and I to find shooting locations more easily without navigating around a ton of people. Early mornings are also a lot cooler than evening sessions! In the summertime, this is everything. You want to avoid sweat and humidity as much as possible. The lighting during a sunrise engagement shoot is beautiful. I highly recommend shooting a sunrise session in the summer when you can!
I loved the outfits Caroline and Ronnie wore for their engagement pictures. The soft blues and pinks couldn’t have coordinated more beautifully with Charleston’s charm. The colors felt so fun, playful, and romantic. It worked so well for Caroline and Ronnie’s relationship! They’re a sweet, fun couple who loves to laugh together.
