Spring Wedding in the Rain | Honeysuckle Hill, Asheville NC

POSTED ON

May 19, 2019

Anna and Johnny were married at Honeysuckle Hill on a rainy spring day, however they did not allow the rain to dampen their spirits. Thankfully we had a break in the rain after the wedding ceremony and were able to get pictures surrounding this beautiful venue, including the Lily Pond and Red Barn, everything was so lush and green from all the rain we have had. Anna and Johnny were the best to work with their joy and laughter is contagious and cannot but make you smile.  Their first look was the best we placed  Johnny facing away from Anna and asked her to walk up and call out Johnny. She was so excited she yells out “Hey Johnny”! It was the cutest thing ever,  it was totally who they are as a couple.  OH and Pickles! Their dog was in the wedding and joined us for few pictures! The vendors that were part of our team were all amazing to work with. The rain changed up where we took pictures and Mingle Events, the planner and all the vendors were so kind and worked around us getting pictures and them finishing up decorating for Anna and Johnny’s celebration. Blue Ridge Blooms provided the flowers and they were gorgeous. Not only did they design the floral arrangements, Mandy grows the flowers as well. Collective Music Solution provided the band for the celebration and they are amazing! Catering by Corey provided the meal and the apps for cocktail hour check out how beautiful, and yummy the Charcuterie boards are!

What if it Rains on My Wedding Day?

No one wants to plan for rain on their wedding day but it is a must to take into consideration. It happens and we have no control over it but if you have a plan it will not be stressful.  I have shared some tips along with Candace, with Mingle Events.

  • Make a rain plan, what is the plan if it rains, make sure your vision carries through to the backup plan
  • Embrace it! Bring some cute rain boots and a fun umbrella.
  • Bonus the light is amazing on rainy days and the colors are so rich!
  • Photos at night in the rain are magical!
  • Be flexible, often times there is a break in the rain and we can run out to get a few photos.
  • Trust your Photographer

A woman in glasses holding a coffee mug.

I’m Kathy – wedding photographer, mom of 1 daughter & 2 doodles, and avid sunset watcher. Once you’ve gotten to know a little more about me, it’ll be my turn to get to know you as too!! When I work with a couple, we usually end up feeling more like old friends by the time your wedding day arrives – which means a more relaxed, enjoyable wedding day experience for everyone. And when it comes to photo style, you’ll find your photos are vibrant and classic, in true-to-life color and timeless black and white. It’s my honor to serve joyful, authentic couples who want their wedding photos to be as timeless as their vows.
