Bethany’s spring wedding at Honeysuckle Hill was gorgeous! You may recognize my friend as Bethany from Joy Unscripted. We all loved her wedding – not only the flowers and decor which was amazing – but also all the fun! There was a photo booth, a live band, yummy food, and so much laughter.
Bethany shared their story:
How they met: “The ol’ college party story! We met at a mutual friends’ apartment who happened to be throwing a birthday get-together for Bethany as finals were approaching. A “race” back to the dorm parking lot, lots of FB messages, texts, and countless late nights studying silently in the library later and here we are. … although, Andy insists they met prior to this (at the same friend’s apartment) while watching the National Championship game earlier the previous semester! Bethany is also shocked they didn’t meet even earlier, as they had LOTS of mutual friends Freshman year!”
After college: “Following college graduation, we spent five years about 8-10 hours apart with Bethany staying in Atlanta and Andy moving back to Virginia. Eventually, things lined up for Andy’s job to bring him to Asheville and Bethany decided to join him. A great middle ground between their two families that was perfect for both Andy’s love of mountains and Bethany’s love of cities.”
The proposal: “Some may say we rushed into this… but we’re pretty confident the time is right! Bethany and some of her girlfriends often go on ‘sunset hikes’ – aka they take wine and snacks and choose a pretty hike with great views to hang out and watch the sun go down. So it wasn’t really unusual for Andy to suggest he and Bethany try to catch a sunset sometime this fall. Bethany, clueless of course, wants to bring Abner and Maddie along and goes back and forth on stopping for fried chicken somewhere first. But eventually, they’re on the road heading north on the Parkway. Clouds were moving in and out like crazy and while we had spurts of beautiful views, there were also periods of nothing but grey. After sharing some wine and getting to see the gorgeous area they were in, Bethany decides they should just call it since the sun would have been behind the peaks by now anyways. Andy agrees, and they start getting their stuff together – Bethany turns around to pick something up and BAM, there Andy was down on one knee!! You’d have to ask Andy what happened next because Bethany thinks she just stood there staring at him and the ring. It ended up on her finger though so she must have said Yes.”
About the ring: “Andy had the ring designed with a little help from a mutual friend – the main central diamond of the ring was Bethany’s paternal grandmother’s, which means the world to her – especially since she has a band from her maternal grandmother as well!! Bethany absolutely loves it and how all of the little diamonds surrounding it shine in the sunshine we all know she loves.”
Congrats Bethany & Andy! We loved being a part of such a gorgeous & fun day!
