Springtime in the mountains is gorgeous – and is a great time to get married! The weather is awesome, leaves are green and flowers are starting to bloom. It was the perfect time for Meghan & Alex’s spring destination wedding in the Asheville area.
Asheville, and it’s surrounding areas offer a variety of wedding venues, but they ended up at one of my favorites – Chestnut Ridge. Coming all the way from Texas, they made themselves at home in the heart of the NC mountains. Their guests traveled from all over to support their favorite people on their wedding day.
Wedding Day Details
The day was full of sweet surprises. Alex had several surprises and gifts for Meghan. He had a gorgeous flower arrangement made filled with her favorite flowers along with a diamond necklace and earrings. The sweet special touches did not stop there. For their first look, he had a bottle of Dom Pérignon for them to share.
Their ceremony was held at the ceremony pavilion, which was decorated with lush flowers – perfect for their spring destination wedding! They also included their fur babies in the ceremony which I thought was so precious.
As a nod to her hometown of New Orleans, the bride surprised everyone by kicking off the dance floor opening with a second line! If you’d like to read more about what that is, click here! Complete with a walking brass band, this was an incredible way to kick off the reception. Also, as a nod to her roots, shrimp and grits were served to give everyone a little taste of Creole. While guests were busy mingling and dancing, we opted to take advantage of the golden hour. I snuck the couple away for some sunset photos out in the pasture, one of my favorite places to shoot on the property. Meghan swapped out her Jimmy Choo’s for some pearl studded sneakers, which was an excellent move on her part.
Ending the Evening With a Bang
Once we captured some amazing shots, the fun only continued from there. One of the bride’s friends who is a professional dancer choreographed a special dance to get the party started. I’m sure by looking at the photos you’ll be able to spot exactly who she is! Meghan and Alex had an incredible jam-packed evening with their guests and the party didn’t stop until they pulled away in their vintage getaway car. It was such an honor to work with this sweet couple!
