With Mother’s Day coming up Sunday what a perfect time to share this session!
Mom, Brooke, and her adorable daughter Harlow met me for a Mommy and Me session last Friday morning at the North Carolina Arboretum. What a crazy morning it was! It was raining, then cloudy and we ended the session bathed in sunshine. For which we were glad because these gorgeous ladies were wearing outfits perfect for warmer weather.
Harlow loves going on adventures outside. A girl after my own heart! She enjoys playing ball with doggies, feeding ducks, and going on walks in her wagon. With that in mind, we decided to go on an adventure of our own in a beautiful, colorful park. Harlow had such a great time at the park playing with mommy, and it was so enjoyable being able to capture raw, natural moments of the two of them having fun. I adore the photos of them, just smiling so big at one another! Totally melts my heart!
When we were planning their session, Brooke mentioned that she prefers natural photos instead of the staged and posed photos you see from time to time. Candid sessions are always so much fun; they allow me to truly capture the essence of the beautiful people I’m working with. That’s exactly what she wanted, was to capture them as they were – to freeze the time shared in those beautiful moments. I was more than happy to make her photography dreams a reality! I think Brooke will agree that our session was candid! Harlow had just started to walk recently and was ready to adventure so we just followed along 🙂
Now can we talk about Harlow’s outfits? Both of her outfits are Selah Bea. They are so well made, I was seriously impressed with the quality of her outfits! And the bows that you could “mix and match” between outfits. As someone who just barely knows how to sew, and growing up with a Mom and Grandma who sewed for me, I can appreciate the quality and care that went into these outfits. These clothes are precious, they make me miss the days of having a little girl to dress up.
One of my favorite photos is Harlow walking with the covered area in front of her. It really gives you a sense of how little she is and what a BIG world awaits for her. Her sweet, gorgeous Mama Brooke was just awesome. She was ready for the session rain or shine and I just love how she and Harlow are coordinating. Her mama is a stylist by trade, y’all have to check out her blog for style tips and her adventures in parenting over at The Tony Townie!
We ended our session with Brooke and Harlow reading on some gorgeous turkish towels. Harlow’s mama brought a very special book with her, titled Dreams for my Daughter. We snapped a photo of Harlow holding and reading this book, and it just turned out so cute! I had a wonderful time with these two, and am so blessed that they chose me to document their natural moments. I love spending such quality time with my clients!
A sweet mama with an even sweeter connection to her little mini-me!
