Oh my good gracious! Where do I even start with this wedding?! This couple is one of the kindest, sweetest, most fun, not to mention, most dadgum cute couple I’ve had the sweet opportunity of working with! Everyone involved with the wedding – the bridal party, family, guests, and vendors – were all so nice and amazing to work with. Each one of them made me feel so incredibly welcomed as their Lake Lure Wedding Photographer.
Can we take a second, and talk about how absolutely gorgeous Kelly is! Her personality just shined right through in these photos from her gorgeous floral crown down to her sparkly Kate Spade kicks!! Pam Ross, a friend of the family, who is amazingly creative, actually made Kelly’s floral crown; we just oohed and awed over it the entire night! Pam’s Pink Peony made all the floral arrangements and florals for the ceremony and reception. And the bridesmaids’ dresses were perfect for this spring wedding! What a gorgeous group of brunettes! 🙂
The venue was absolutely gorgeous; just look at the beautiful mountain-scape backdrop for the ceremony. Luckily, the rain held off for their beautiful outdoor ceremony. The flowers and décor were just so perfect for this spring wedding. All the spring colors and greenery came together just right. Kelly made her grand entrance to Here Comes the Sun” and exited to “Brown-Eyed Girl.” So unique and beautiful.
After the ceremony, the fun continued into the reception. Wes and Kelly were announced and went directly into their first dance! It was so much fun to watch! They had a whole routine and totally rocked it!! There was also a super fun photo booth that friends of the family, Pam and Clark Ross, set up and manned for the wedding. What about their “guest book”? It was a set of skis that everyone signed and that they will display in their home. I love it, what a great idea to incorporate something they love and they way they met. 50/fifty Art of Dessert, made the the cake and cupcakes which were super yummy, and I just loved the lovely display atop the piano.
Once it came time for the toasts, it was so refreshing to see the groomsmen cracking jokes and laughing. Candace, the
wedding planner, and I were chatting about how fun it was to see a group of guys that don’t take themselves too seriously and just have fun. One highlight of this was the best man! Guys… he wrote and rapped his speech. It was awesome. Check out Wes and Kelly’s faces and the reaction of the people behind them when, instead of just making a speech, he started rapping. I can still hear everyone rapping “Wes n’ Kelly, Wes n’ Kelly, Wes n’ Kelly!!”
Towards the end of the night, Kelly and Wes exited through a tunnel of sparklers held by their very own loving family and friends. These two truly celebrated their love together; you couldn’t help but smile, seeing their happiness. They ended their night in a true form of love, adventure, and fun! They jumped in the pool while the DJ who was already packing up for the evening stopped and put the song “Jump Around” on when he saw what was happening!
It was such an honor to be a part of Kelly and Wes’s special day, and it’s a privilege to now be able to call these two friends! Don’t forget to check out their engagement session!
My friend and videographer, Jennifer Allen, came along to second shoot and film the day of me behind the scenes. Be on the lookout for video highlights for what it is like to work with me on your wedding day. While it is super fun, I have to say…I’m not looking too pretty by the end!! It truly is an honest look behind the scenes! 🙂 I can’t wait to share this video along with her video of the couple’s wedding day with you all!

I have admired Kelly’s beauty and her kind soul since we met at age 5. These images perfectly capture her spirt and the heartwarming love she and Wes share. Thank you!!
