Asheville Fine Art Photography | Why to Print Your Photos

Imagine going to Italy on your dream honeymoon.  Spending a week walking the ancient streets of Rome, eating at fine restaurants in Venice, discovering small vineyards in Tuscany and more.  When you arrive back to the states after your trip your friends can’t wait to see pictures and hear about your once in a lifetime experience.  You all gather around the computer and scroll through the images.  I must admit though, as a Asheville Fine Art Photography artist, scrolling through the photos on a computer is not so fun.

Rather than keeping your photos saved on a computer, you have a photo album put together with highlights of pictures from your trip.  This album is now a prominent feature on your coffee table.  This particular album is very large and full of pictures – more pictures than a person could look through in one setting!  Your friend likes to act like as if this photo album is a cherished classic novel and keeps a bookmark in the album each time he comes to visit so that he doesn’t lose his place as he peruses through the pictures.

Why do I tell you this story you ask? .  Having pictures saved on your computer is convenient, but there is something more engaging about looking through printed images.  Having an album to flip through and been able to reminiscing about your wonderful trip is so much more tangible.  It also makes for a fun conversation starter!

Prints make amazing gifts!

There are multiple other reasons I would recommend for you to print out your photos.  Think about if (knock on wood) your computer’s hard drive crashed.  Think of all the photos and memories you would lose if this common occurrence happened.  Printing out your photos is a practical and engaging way to archive your images.

I speak from personal experience when I say that photos make great gifts, especially for family members. I always encourage friends and clients who are getting married to take individual photos of the bride and groom with grandparents, aunts, and parents.  These photos not only show precious memories to cherish for years to come, but also make great gifts even for the most difficult of people to buy for.  I had a couple take photos on their wedding day under a large banner which read “Thank You!”  They then used these photos for personalized thank you cards for guests who came to their wedding.  What a sweet and personal way to thank your guests!  There are hundreds of ways to use printed photos to enjoy your family photos regularly.

I believe so much in printing your pictures that all collections with my studio come with either prints/a print credit, a canvas or a Heirloom Album.  I offer a 10×10 Fine Art Album and a  larger 12×12 album.  These albums come standard with 10 thick spreads (20 pages) and additional pages can be added up to 25 thick spreads (50 pages).   Check out the pictures below for a comparison in sizes and the amount of pages they will hold.   I offer these to my clients because I  know how easy it is to think you are going to print your photos and never get around to it.  I love offering these items, because they are an absolutely gorgeous way to display your pictures and it ensures your pictures that are enjoyed and looked at often.
