I truly believe the engagement session is a HUGE part of your wedding experience. During your engagement pictures you’ll have the chance to get to know me, and experience how I shoot and handle posing and lighting. I’ll arrive on your wedding day already knowing how you two interact, what your best poses are, and how to photograph you in a genuine way! Your engagement session can be scheduled any time before your wedding day. I normally suggest 3-6 months ahead to avoid stress. I shoot these sessions 2 hours before sunset so the time will vary throughout the year. As you start to plan for your engagement shoot, it’s a great idea to start brainstorming for locations. I LOVE it when a couple picks a location that is special or sentimental to them! I have taken engagement pictures downtown, at the location of a couples first date, in a local ice cream shop, engagement pictures with a dog, lifestyle sessions in their home, you name it. The more personalized/unique, the better. If you can’t think of anywhere specific I would be glad to help you decide on some engagement picture ideas. As long as there’s light, I can make your location work. My bridal guide magazine that each of my brides receives will give you suggestions for engagement picture outfits and more. Here is a quote from my most recent engagement session, it is a great example of why to take engagement photos. “The images were amazing. Truly.. you did an amazing job. Now if you are a destination bride or you cannot make the engagement session happen before your wedding you have an option or two. We could do a bridal session so the bride gets to spend time with me, and become familiar with how I work. Or, we can get together for lunch and tour of your wedding location to chat, get to know each other and discuss wedding photography and get a feel for how I approach the day.
