The golden light in the afternoons never gets old, wouldn’t you agree? That’s why the “golden hour” is my favorite time to shoot – it guarantees magical photos! So when my wedding clients Katy and Alex wanted to schedule their complimentary mini engagement session, I knew exactly when to schedule our 30-minute time slot. Since they live in Atlanta, they didn’t know much about the area. They simply requested to shoot somewhere with a scenic nature background – and of course, Asheville is filled with those! After some thought, I decided to take them to the Asheville Botanical Gardens for a winter engagement session. We met up on February 14th – the perfect day for engagement photos!
Before getting into their magical session, want to know a bit more about Katy and Alex? They initially met in high school but never became more than friends. After heading to separate colleges, their paths crossed again on New Years’ Eve when they both were visiting home. A platonic (or so they thought) midnight kiss turned out to hold much more merit. From there, the spark was ignited and they’ve been together ever since. In their free time, they enjoy visiting local breweries and restaurants in the Atlanta area and exploring nature.
Mini Engagement Session at Asheville Botanical Gardens
I loved their casual effortless style, and the whole affair was really just a alk in the woods with lots of snuggles and laughs. Although there wasn’t much foliage on the trees, the leaves on the ground with a hint of a few evergreens made for some amazing shots. The stream was a beautiful addition, and these two loved exploring it a bit! From the glowy light to the shining smiles, this session was such a delight.
