Hey There!

i'm so glad you are here.

I’m Kathy, pretty much Asheville born and raised, mom to Anna, and keeper of two doodles, Daisy and Harvey plus a kitten who we named Midnight, she showed up at our door at midnight and decided she lived here. I’ve been informed I’m not allowed to accept any further deliveries of that kind.

Twelve years and two hundred weddings in, I still haven’t gotten tired of this. I can shoot the same venue multiple times and something will be different, the light, the family, the way a room feels. I love the challenge of it. I love the emotion. I love the ten minutes when a couple finally gets a second alone. And I have never once been tired of a good dance floor.

I’ve been taking pictures since high school, when I shot film and learned to develop and print my own in a darkroom. The business came much later, I was already a mom by the time I started photographing weddings, and I think both of those show up in how I work. A wedding isn’t a photoshoot. I’m there to document your day and honor what actually matters to you. Which is also why I take family photos seriously: those are the ones that end up framed, and are some of the ones people are most grateful for later.

When I’m not photographing a wedding, I’m usually photographing something anyway. I never really left film behind, and I’m having a truly unreasonable amount of fun with Super 8 right now. Otherwise: a good book, a weekend in Charleston, or anywhere near the beach. Though honestly my favorite part of any trip is the drive home, when the mountains come back into view.

Our approach

Your wedding isn’t a photoshoot with a celebration happening around it. It’s a day you should actually get to experience in the moment.

Most of the work happens before you ever see us. We’ll go through your must-haves, build a timeline that gives us real time for them instead of stealing it from your cocktail hour, and work it out directly with your planner. If you’re still figuring out that timeline, we’re happy to send a sample to start from.

On the day, we move fast while the light is good and give you room the rest of the time. Family photos get done properly and efficiently, those are the ones people frame, and nobody should be hunting for an uncle forty-five minutes into dinner.

And with two photographers, one of us can stay with you while the other is across the room catching everything you’ll never get to see: your dad during your vows, your college roommate losing it on the dance floor, your grandmother watching you.

The result is a gallery that feels like your wedding, not a checklist of photographs.

What started as my favorite hobby, turned into my dream job

I’ve always loved photography, from taking film photography classes in high school to learning digital photography once I was gifted my first digital camera. I’m a life-long learner, so I enjoy continuing to take classes even now! I built my skills from photo shoots with my daughter when she was in middle school to taking family photos for friends… and finally making the leap to weddings when a friend referred me to a couple. It was the scariest, hardest, most fun day of work ever – and I’ve never looked back!

Whenever anyone asks me about the best part of having my dream job, my answer is always the same – you! I absolutely love getting to meet beautiful couples, learning your story, and spending time together on one of the best days of your life. I’m still pinching myself and wondering “Is this real?!” – because it’s such an honor to tell your love story.
